I haven’t done a personal update in some time; hello life with three kids. It has been a half year with Deacon…actually more like 3/4 and our family is learning the ride of a family of five. I might dare say it is sort of like a dizzying carousel. One we are loving to ride, with a whole lot of colorful options on how you can ride it. And yes, we are all feeling a little like our heads are spinning at the same time. I joke that I would give anything to freeze time with this 5. 2 and new but we all know carousels don’t really stop. The gift of this this third baby is a more relaxed approach to motherhood, enjoying the nice ride as well as the dizzying parts. I know Deacon’s rolls and need for mommy are going to go away sooner than I like. And the next stage will be wonderful because I see it in the “big kids”, but I just love this stage in our life. Sure…we are tired and there are long days..And sure, launching a new business and growing two of our existing businesses makes for some reaaaallly talented juggling. But the day in and day out are packed and dotted with the the best snuggles and bellybuttons, dinosaurs and trucks and a whole lots of laughs.
With Miss A at school these past few months, my world is more filled up with boy time than ever before. I am seeing a whole new crazy fun world of brotherhood develop and seeing the growth of our family in new ways. Deacon, aka Deaky Doo, my big turkey, my sweet potato is the snuggliest, softest, sweetest little brother. Shepherd is constantly touching his “cuuuuutie” ears and nose and wants to help him play with trains. Their brotherhood is something new for me to watch and experience and more than ever I have been pulling out the big camera to document it. I remember reading an article about how the more kids you have, the more it fine tunes what you focus on. I have been photographing the ordinary more than ever before. It isn’t always the prettiest and I am sometimes dizzy from the spinning of it all, but the ordinary is the crazy, messy, beautiful stuff worth savoring and remembering right now.
